Gibran Khalil Gibran (January 6, 1883 – April 10, 1931), also referred to in English as Kahlil Gibran, was a Lebanese-American writer and painter. Born in Ottoman Syria (modern-day Lebanon), his family later immigrated to the United States. He is best known for The Prophet which was first published in 1923 in the United States.
